Marta Minorowicz is director of the award-winning documentaries 'A Piece of Summer' (Kawalek Lata) and 'Decrescendo'. Exploring the harmonies and conflicts that exist within and between the human and natural worlds, Minorowicz is drawn to those that operate inter-generationally and reveal the fragility of customs in the face of change.

It is the last days of the summer holidays. A grandfather who works in the Bieszczady Mountains awaits the arrival of his grandson. Surrounded by wild nature they try to reach an understanding of each other. The camera keenly and poetically observes, with slow and subtle pace, their developing relationship to one another and to the world that envelopes them.

Decrescendo tells the story of the blossoming friendships that take place between the young psychologist Tomek and his patients from an old persons home, each of who bears their own touching and tragic story. Each day Tomek's fascination with beauty and youth clashes not only with the aging and the dying but also with their emphatic will to life.

ZUD – when the unforgiving forces of nature take their toll on humans and animals. The unexpected return of snow devastates the nomad family’s livestock. 11-year old Sukbhat is forced to leave his childhood behind. Now the hopes of the family rely on the young boy who should tame and race the wild horse. An intense relation between father, son and their wild horse shows how nature overwhelms and influences human beings. Nobody remains unscathed after being confronted with the powers of the steppe.

Marta Minorowicz is author and director of the multi-award winning documentary film, 'A Piece of Summer' (Kawałek Lata). Awards include: Grand Prix, Clermont-Ferrand Filmfest 2011; Golden Dove, DOK Festival, Leipzig, 2010; and Grand Prix, Łodz, Poland. In 2010 Marta graduated from the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing where she made the film, ‘Decrescendo’ that was also awarded at a number of festivals. In 2003 she graduated with an MA in History of Theater and English Filology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. For more than five years she cooperated with Polish television where she made dozens of social reportages. For Discovery History she scripted and directed, among others, the Holocaust-survival documentary, ‘The Angel of Death’. In 2012 she founded the production company MM Films.

Urodziła się w 1979 roku. Studiowała teatrologię na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim w Krakowie. Absolwentka kursu dokumentalnego w Mistrzowskiej Szkole Reżyserii Filmowej Andrzeja Wajdy. Zrealizowała film „Anioł śmierci” dla Discovery History, opowiadający o kobietach, które przeżyły eksperymenty doktora Mengele. Jest autorką dokumentu „Kawałek Lata” (2010), który był obecny na najważniejszych festiwalach międzynarodowych i zdobył m.in. Grand Prix na festiwalu w Clermont‐Ferrand, Golden Dove na festiwalu DOK Leipzig i Białą Kobrę na Festiwalu Mediów „Człowiek w zagrożeniu”. W czerwcu miał premierę jej najnowszy film „Decrescendo”, który otrzymał wyróżnienie w międzynarodowym konkursie filmów krótkometrażowych podczas 51- wszego Krakowskiego Festiwalu Filmowego.
